Her story
It started with a mother watching her son struggle.
Teresa Tollen spent nine years at La Center Elementary. Then dyslexia arrived in her own house — and in 2015 she rented one small room, certified in the Barton reading program, and opened a school built on a single conviction: there is not one way to teach a child.
It’s still a family school — and Teresa still teaches every day, because the teaching is the point.
